Joseph J Calvert, Last Will and Testament, 1815, White County, IL (posted by Sandra Colbert Frohock,sfrohock@msn.com .). The following is a transcription from a copy of the hand-written original document acquired in the Carmi, IL, White County Courthouse, probate records, July, 2005.

In the name of God Amen, the fifth day of February in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and fifteen, I Joseph __ Calvert Sen'. of the county of Gallantain Illenoi Territorey being sick and weak in bodey but of perfect mind and __memorey, calling into mind the mortallity of my body do make and ordain this my last will and testament. first of all I gave and recommend Soul unto the hands of God that gave it and my Body to be buried in the earth in a deasint and Christian lick manner - and as touching my worldly Estate, I gave and devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form, Its my will that in the first place all my just debts and funeral charges be paid and satisfied.  I give and bequeath unto John Calvert, Joseph Calvert, Robert Calvert, William Callvert, Margaret Cheatham, Nancy Calvert __Deborah Calvert each of them five shillings lawfull money of the United States, out of my Estate, and I give unto my Son David Calvert all the ballance of my estate debts dues or demands; I lickwise constitute make and ordain the said David my only and sole Executor, of this my last will and Testament, and I do hereby utterly disanul all and every other Testament or Will, Legacies and Executors made by me, this and no other to be my last Will and Testament. in witness wheareof I have hearunto set my hand and seal the day and year above written.

This day the written last will and Testament of Joseph Calvert Deceased was produced to me in my office, and thereupon came Thomas Rutlidge Samuel Craig and Thomas Mayes the subscribing witnesses thereto, who being sworn upon the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God, saith that they were present and saw and herd the said Joseph Calvert deceased sign, seal, publish and deliver the within as and for his last Will and Testament, and the same is correctly recorded in Will Book A in my office pages three and four

In Testimony whereof I James Ratcliff Clerk of the County Court in and for the County of White aforesaid have here unto set hand this 9th day of June 1817
